I made my bows this year. This was the method I ended up using. I found that the initial tail could be left longer and looped to make the center and eliminate a step. I also found that it worked best to draw the ribbon across so that it crossed the center circle. A single staple anchors them all when you're done. I recommend this. It was a pleasant activity to do while watching TV. I came up with far nicer results than the bag of bows from the store. I had a lot more control of the result because there is so much variety in colors and patterns of ribbon.
